Amendments to Emerging Artist Grants

The maximum value of the Emerging Artist Grants has been increased from $10,000 to $15,000.

In October 2022, The Ian Potter Cultural Trust's Board approved two fundamental amendments to the Trust's Emerging Artist Grants funding program.

The program offers grants to support emerging and early-career artists to undertake professional development opportunities.

  • The maximum value of the emerging artist development grants has been increased from $10,000 to $15,000, effective Funding Round 1, 2023. The eligibility criteria and requirements for the funding program remain unchanged.
  • While the Trust will continue to prioritise the funding of international professional development opportunities, in the circumstance that an opportunity within Australia is of high quality and can offer exceptional benefit to an individual's professional practice, applicants may seek funding to undertake a professional development project within Australia.

In line with The Ian Potter Cultural Trust's funding principle to encourage the diversity, excellence, and distinction of emerging Australian artists, the Trustees have indicated a preference that at least 70% of grants awarded continue to support international travel.
